BUDDHA BEATS 105 - HOUSE 2 TECHNO
ABOUT THE MIX:
With so much music coming out, trying to find what speaks to me has become increasingly difficult. I spend more time looking for something new in my usual digital crate digging sessions looking to see if there’s anything new that really catches me.
There’s some amazing music out now. Really good stuff. But what I want (at the moment) are those tracks that you’ve possibly heard, or sound familiar without actually having sampled or copied from other songs. Now, the hunt becomes harder. So, what did I do? I got some fresh stuff that I purchased online, and then went digging into my collection to find those rarities. There are some tracks I had heard some time ago that I purchased and tried to fit into some of my mixes, but they just didn’t fit the vibe. The other itch that I wanted to scratch was to bring up the beats per minute as the songs become more intense. This mix does just that. It goes from 128bpm all the way to 134bpm. Now, you may not think this some big shift but if you dance to each song instead of just listening, you’ll FEEL the BPM changes. And if you really do it right, you can dance to this mix from start to finish with no break.
Lately, there’s been more talk about how new DJs, and how they have never had to play an entire party set, and that an hour for quite a lot of us DJs isn’t really going to allow us to tell a story in our mixes. And I can agree with that for the most part. You CAN tell a story in a 1 hour mix, if you’ve done your homework. Go check out the club for a few weeks before your gig date there, and watch the crowd. Hear what tracks get them excited, and which ones empty the floor. Get to know the ravers and party people who are dancing the most. Build your crate based on these things, as well as what you want to educate the crowd with. Either your own tracks, your friends tracks, or tracks that just “speak” to you.
So, that’s what I did here. There are some oddities in here that I’ve only heard a few times out at the clubs, others are ones I found online and just had to have and that I would have to find a way to get those tracks into a mix. This month’s mix takes us from silken house music, through some tech house bumpiness, and brings us into those solid techno textures.
Please let me know your thoughts on this mix or any of the mixes, where you listen to them, what you like, don’t like, and I’ll do what I can to make this podcast and it’s mixes even better! In the meantime…
Enjoy the mix!
